we travel together, practice trend sports and protect the environment
From 24.09 until 07.10.2011 40 participants from France, Spain, Portugal, Wales and Austria travelled together from Mundaka in the spanish basque country, to Lourinhã, a small town right next to the portuguese surf mecca of Peniche. The impressive results have been presented on exhibitions and recap-parties in Graz (A), in Gernika (ES) and Braga (PT). The project's goal was to promote greater environmental awareness and a healthy, athletic lifestyles among the participants. Therefore the core activities included professional surfing lessons, beachcleaning actions and art sessions, where the collected trash was used to create artwork. All in all at the beachcleaning sessions about 150 large bags of trash, several cubic meters of fishing nets and some strange items such as truck tires were removed and disposed.
As a supporting program we organized workshops with other trendsports like capoeira, a meeting with the professional big-wave surfers Axier Muniain and we also provided much information about environmental protection. The participants visited several facilities, including a
biodiversity center or the AZTI-Tecnalia in Mundaka, a technology center for marine research. To provide a healthy lifestyle and to promote cultural exchange we also always cooked together in multinational groups.
